Legacy Pups
While Embark Pet Rescue may be a new name in town, we've been helping pair up people and pets for years now. With over 80 matches made already, here are some of their stories:
Sage
Sage's story: Sage started out at a cat rescue in Fairbury, Nebraska, but health issues made it difficult for him to get by in such a busy place. Andi took him on for a more one-on-one approach, and he settled in quickly as a foster, spending time as a shop cat in the old grooming shop. But it wasn't long before some of the doting clients took a shine to him, and before we knew it he had found his match.
Coco
Coco's story: Coco is a headstrong, wild girl, and ended up being more than her original owner bargained for. After spending the better part of a year trying to make the match work, Coco was spending most of the day in a kennel and then getting destructive with all her extra energy. A longtime client at Embark, she knew we would find a place for Coco where all her energy could be put to good use. Now, in her forever home, she helps keep her sister young and spry.
Quigley
Quigley's story: Quigley's journey starts out with a loss. As her owner's failing health deteriorated, Quigley stuck right by her side. But despite their bond, Quigley's mom passed away, and Quigley was left inconsolable. Through our network, we were able to take Quigley in as a foster and in no time her bright, loving spirit became apparent. It didn't take long to find the right home for such a sweet, energetic girl and now she spends all her time playing with her pit-mix brother!
Sammi
Sammi's story: When owners were overrun with dogs without time to spare for them, sweet baby Sammi ended up with us. With a little TLC, any behaviors Sammi's owners might have struggled with disappeared and her personality shone through. With all her cairn charm it was only a matter of time before she ended up with her perfect-pair new sister, Lucy, in her fur-ever home!
Toby
Toby's story: When his parents had medical complications and the expenses that go with them, it eventually just became too much to also give Toby the time, attention, and amenities a sweet little boy like him deserves. Again, we were happy to do what we could. It was hardly a sacrifice to take him on, and it didn’t take long to find Toby his people. He’s now a doted-upon only child, receiving all the love a little guy could ever need.
Gigi
Gigi's story: Another of our grooming shop's owner surrenders, after her owners were faced with overwhelmingly difficult medical/life circumstances. But Gigi with her little heart of gold meant it wasn't long at all before she found the folks with a Gigi-shaped hole in their hearts.
Chauncey (AKA Johnny Bear)
Chauncey's story: This guy was taken in off the streets by a good samaritan who kept him safe, warm, and fed while looking for a more permanent option. But Johnny Bear has quite the spirited personality, and the energy he added to an already full house got a little out of hand, so we stepped in to help and these days he gets to play the big dog and teach all of his goofy antics to his other furry siblings!
Zeus
Zeus's story: Zeus was surrendered when it became clear he didn't like sharing the spotlight with his owner's infant granddaughter, and his owner felt she needed to make an impossible choice. Luckily, this minute-big handful found his fur-ever home right off the bat when a "weekend foster" absolutely fell in love with him.
Ebony Rose
Ebony's story: Ebony was with the same family since she was a pup, but after the family’s senior pup and head of the pack passed away, there were unexpected bursts of in-fighting among the remaining pups. It took time, but Ebony Rose found her peace as a beloved only (four-legged) child for an adoring family.
